PALMS ist die erste umfassende Publikation der Künstlerin und zeigt Installationen, Skulpturen und fotografische Arbeiten, die zwischen 2005 und 2015 entstanden sind.
Sophie-Therese Trenka-Dalton untersucht in ihren Arbeiten kulturelle Aneignungsprozesse, die im Zuge der kontinuierlichen Implosion und Verschiebung imperialer Machtzentren entstehen. Orte wie Mesopotamien, Los Angeles und Dubai bilden dabei die Ausgangspunkte ihrer mehrteiligen Installationen, in denen sie die Migration kultureller Artefakte nachzeichnet und weiterführt, Architekturreferenzen rekonstruiert und gesammeltes Recherchematerial präsentiert.
Mit PALMS erweitert die Künstlerin ihre installative Arbeitsweise auf das Buchformat und verbindet die ineinandergreifenden Projekte der letzten Jahre zu einer fortlaufenden Erzählung.

In her work Sophie-Therese Trenka-Dalton examines examples of cultural appropriation generated by the process of imperial powers continuously imploding and shifting. Places as Mesopotamia, Los Angeles and Dubai form the starting points of her installations, where she retraces and extends the migration of cultural artifacts, reconstructs architectural references and presents collected research material.
With PALMS the artist expands her installation-based practice into the book format, connecting her intertwining projects of the last years into one continuous narration.
